Every Shabbos, thousands of Jews across Los Angeles rely on the Los Angeles Community Eruv to bring babies to shul, push strollers to friends, attend simchas, host guests, visit family, and fully participate in Jewish life. For elderly and disabled community members, the eruv is not a convenience — it is what keeps them connected to the community each week.

The Los Angeles Community Eruv is one of the largest and most complex eruvin in the world. Every Thursday night, crews inspect and repair more than 45 miles of boundary before Shabbos begins — because once Shabbos arrives, the eruv simply has to work.

The eruv belongs to all of us, and it only exists because our community supports it.  Please contribute $100 or more today to help keep the Los Angeles Community Eruv up, safe, and functioning for every family who depends on it.

Shabbat Vaetchanan – 5784 – Shabbat Nachamu

August 16, 2024 : 3:10 pm

August 16-17, 2024
13 Menachem Av 5784

The Eruv is BACK UP!  Kudos to the LA Eruv team!

The Eruv is Sponsored by Moshe Polon, in honor of the memory of his wife, Miriam Rochel bas Avrohom, a”h, who passed away on Parchas Chukas, 7 Tamuz this year.  The shloshim of her patirah was on 7 Av.

This week fixing the Eruv was a bit more complicated than most weeks.

Last night our Eruv crew (David Witkin & Adam Funk) were out in the night repairing two sections of the eruv: 10 Fwy & Redondo and
Santa Monica & Van Ness.

Every week our guys are out for hours Making repairs.

This week, after those repairs were made we got a last minute call from the city about new construction scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Our crew went back out again and made emergency repairs to restore the eruv.

Our guys are out every week to keep this eruv operational year after year.

We are grateful for their dedication.

This Week’s Repairs:

  • 10 Fwy & Redondo: Removed fencing obstructing pole
  • Santa Monica & Van Ness: Added screws to secure Lechi
  • Friday afternoon emergency reroute: Santa Monica & St. Andrews

Weekly, Monthly and Annual co-sponsorship opportunities are available.
