It is important for all valley residents to be aware, the temporary connection between the Los Angeles Eruv and the North Hollywood Eruv is broken and can not be relied upon. There is no connection between the two Eruvs and no passageway between them should be relied upon this week or in the future.

The eruv is sponsored this week in honor of Rabbi Aryeh and Rebbetzin Sharona Kaplan in recognition of their tremendous accomplishments through the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC), supporting enrichment programs for Orthodox students at UCLA — with the request that the community help to keep JLIC and the Kaplans on UCLA campus.
The times being what they are, the Orthodox Union recently decided that the JLIC should, in part, be community funded. $80,000 must be raised locally by the end of March. Over $43,000 has been raised so far, but more help is needed.
